Musing from a middle school basketball coach

Well, we finished 5w and 5L this year.  We beat who we suppose to and gave the other teams a run for the money.  I will miss this crew.   For the most, they did what they were supposed to do on and off the court. We have started our travel basketball team.  We have a new element this year we decided to let two girls play on our team.  These girls can play !!!  Will fill you in as the season progresses.  Needless to say, the players must act accordingly in school in order to participate fully, goals 3.0 and no referrals.  Let the games continue!

Bucs Practice

 

We had a ton of fun at the Tampa Bay Bucs football Practice.  It was hot,  but free food and water went along way to make the event most enjoyable. The kids loved the Madden truck as well.  Thanks to the Grossi's for making this possible !

Team Uplift 8 grade AAU Team ! We are are getting better !  A little growing pains but that is normal !  Everybody has to be on the same page !  That takes communication and remembering that in order to get to the next level you have to be a Team Player !!!

Life-Skills Basketball Camp 2017

Summer is almost here !  Praise the Lord ! Project Uplift has partnered with Largo Middle School and will hold our 4th annual LS Basketball Camp starting June 19-22 and 26-29. 3rd Annual LM Picnic !

End of year Picnic !  Healthy food and snacks along with plain old water was provided. It was hot so there was no complaining about the spring water instead pop !  It was for boys and girls volleyball and basketball teams from Largo Middle .  The boys basketball AAU program has started our first tournament is next weekend ! Will keep you posted !

Well we ended with 5-5 record this year !  Way better the our 0-10 season last year !  The boys played hard but most importantly they all improved or maintained their grades and were respectful to their teachers.   When they were not they were suspended for game !  This little spanking kept them in line. !

 AAU  (travel basketball team) has started and we have a set of new players !  I am excited to spend time with them !  Well,  let the games begin.

  We will be holding our yearly Basketball/Life Skills, (Camp Uplift )  in June at Largo Middle School again.   Our Annual Picnic will be later this month for the volleyball and basketball girls and boys teams at Largo Middle !

We plan to hold several fund raisers will keep you posted !!!

Volleyball Season ends with a bang !

Largo Middle Boys Volleyball Team end the season with an 8W-2L record.  This was the best record in a decade. The boys played so well together ! Most importantly had a 3.4 grade average. Go Tigers !
